“Legends” are small racing cars designed for both circuit and oval track racing that originated in the USA and came to the UK in the 1990s. Their design is based on vintage American hot rod body shapes, with tight regulations designed to ensure fair competition amongst drivers. Powered by 1200/1250cc Superbike engines Legends are extremely quick little cars and demand plenty of driving skill from some of Britain’s top oval racing drivers.
Damian started racing Legends in 2006, taking over his father Adrian’s car, having previously competed in various oval track formula since the age of 10 in mini-stocks! Due to financial constraints Damian gave up Legends in 2010 and sold his car.
In late 2016 Damian happened to accidentally call his old friend and sparring partner, the extremely successful Legends driver Dan “Golden” Holden, and after chewing the fat about the “good old days” when they raced against each other in Legends Dan announced he’d bought a new Legend and his old one was up for sale .. and for some reason on the spur of the moment Damian decided to buy it!
The car was quickly acquired, re-built and re-painted, and Damian Wright, Oval Track Legend 2007 Triple Crown Champion, is back in business!
